Our life in the metropolis today does not allow us to escape from technology; and exposes us to the side effects of technology. Especially the AC/DC adaptors (i.e. adaptors for the cell phones, laptops, LCD and all other tech toys) keep growing in numbers in our homes and workplaces. Adding the electromagnetic effects of the neighborhood electrical converters influences our bodies which act as an antenna, towards 50 Hertz. This influence affects our internal organs including our brain and brainwaves. The traditional brainwaves are “delta”, “theta”, “alpha” and “beta” however 50 Hertz is well beyond beta hence a new group of brainwaves had to be named as “omega” in the 20th century. Omega brainwaves; 50 Hertz although it has not been confirmed scientifically may be the main cause for diseases such as panic attack.
On this planet the brainwave which is the most peaceful is alpha brainwaves for all animals with brains. A calm and worry free walk on the beach easily carries us to alpha. Alpha brainwaves also increase our ability to learn. The Ionosphere layer, high up in the Atmosphere is conductive and vibrates with 8 Hertz which corresponds to alpha and with no other influence our natural state of being is in alpha brainwaves induced by the ionosphere layer.
In our performance installation our purpose is to deliberately induce brainwaves other than omega with the use of LED light and music technology, and carry us to the peaceful lucidness of alpha.
